Are you passionate about supporting women through pregnancy, early parenting and complex life challenges?
We are currently recruiting for a compassionate and experienced Counsellor to join a well-established, NSW Health-funded community program supporting women who are pregnant, parenting children aged 0–3 years, or navigating grief and loss following the loss of a child.
This is a female-identified position. Being female is a genuine occupational requirement under Sections 31 and 31A of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 due to the nature of the client group and services provided.
Working as part of a dedicated and highly supportive counselling team, you will provide therapeutic counselling, intensive case management and advocacy support to women experiencing vulnerability, social isolation, trauma, family stress and other complex challenges.
This role is community-based across the Blacktown and Penrith LGAs and would suit someone who enjoys autonomous work, relationship building and delivering meaningful therapeutic interventions within a flexible outreach model.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver trauma-informed counselling support via outreach, community settings and telehealth
- Provide intensive case management, advocacy and referral pathways
- Support women experiencing complex psychosocial challenges and vulnerability
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder and referral relationships across the community sector
- Participate in collaborative care planning and interagency work
- Facilitate or assist with therapeutic and psychoeducational group programs where required
- Maintain accurate case notes and participate in regular supervision
- Tertiary qualifications in Counselling, Psychology or a related discipline
- Registration or membership with a recognised professional body such as PACFA, ACA, CAPA or AHPRA
- Experience supporting women and families during pregnancy, postnatal or early parenting stages
- Strong therapeutic counselling skills and experience working with vulnerable or marginalised populations
- Understanding of Child Protection legislation and Child Safe Standards
- Knowledge of Aboriginal and CALD communities and culturally safe practice
- Comfortable working autonomously within a community outreach setting
- Current NSW Driver’s Licence, access to a vehicle, WWCC and willingness to complete probity checks
