Family & Relationship Counsellor
Support couples and families across Western Sydney. Full-time role with clinical supervision, training and salary packaging.
- Support individuals, couples and families through relationship challenges
- Regular individual and group clinical supervision contributing to CPD
- Parenting program facilitator training and professional development
Be Recruitment is seeking a counsellor to join an established community services organisation supporting individuals, couples and families across the Western Sydney area until June 2028, with a high chance of contract and funding renewal.
You’ll help clients work through relationship difficulties, separation, divorce, grief and significant life changes, including grief loss and co-parenting. Couples and family counselling forms a substantial part of the role, so experience and confidence in this area will be highly regarded, but not essential.
This is based on site 4 days per week with 1 day per week from home to complete paperwork and any remote form of counselling; however, most clients come to the two site offices in Western Sydney for face-to-face counselling, so minimal travel is required for the role.
The role
Working within a counselling team, you’ll provide evidence-based therapeutic support that helps clients build and maintain safe, supportive relationships.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing face-to-face, telephone and online counselling to individuals, couples and families
- Supporting clients experiencing relationship breakdown, bereavement, trauma and grief, including those navigating family law pathways
- Facilitating parenting and psycho-educational group programs
- Connecting clients with appropriate services through warm referrals
- Maintaining accurate client records and contributing to reporting
- Participating in clinical supervision, professional development and local service networks
- Maintaining culturally responsive, child-safe practice and meeting mandatory reporting obligations
You’ll bring a thoughtful, practical approach to counselling and the ability to build trust with people experiencing difficult circumstances.
We’re looking for:
- A tertiary qualification in Counselling, Psychology or Social Work
- Relevant professional membership or registration, such as ACA, PACFA, AASW or AHPRA
- Skills or experience in couples and family counselling, including working with children
- Experience facilitating therapeutic or psycho-educational groups
- An understanding of culturally responsive practice when working with First Nations and culturally diverse communities
- Strong communication, organisation and client documentation skills
- A current NSW driver licence, access to a fully insured vehicle and willingness to travel for work
Supervision, development and benefits
You’ll have access to:
- Monthly individual clinical supervision contributing to CPD hours
- Monthly group clinical supervision contributing to CPD hours
- Supervision with the Manager every six weeks
- Peer supervision within a supportive team
- Facilitator training across a range of parenting programs
- Individual professional development contributing to CPD hours
- Salary packaging benefits
